(WEEK 2) Thaumatrope Janurary 27th, 2016

Week 2: Thaumatrope

This week, we are going to make our very own Thaumatrope!

This little thing wowed kids back in the 1800s, a whole century before animation came to life of screen for the first time.

Here are the materials that you will need:
  • A straw/stick
  • Two small pieces of paper both of the same size
  • Glue
  • Drawing utensils
Step 1:
With the two pieces of paper and do a drawing on each piece that relate to each other. Feel free to color them how ever you want.

Step 2:
When you are done, take one of the drawings and place it drawing side down on the table.

Step 3:
Apply glue around the edges of the back side of the drawing.

Step 4:
Take the straw and apply glue onto the top half and then place on the center of the first drawing.

Step 5:
Take the second drawing and place the back side on top of the straw and the first drawing. Allow to draw.

Step 6:
Rub the straw in between your hands and watch the magic!

Here is a video that can show you how it's done!

You can also make one with string!
